Welcome
Hyde Park Schools is a Christ-centered, college preparatory school in Austin, Texas serving 4K-12th Grade students.
Welcome from the Head of School
Please allow me to extend a warm welcome to Hyde Park from my family to yours. With a rich 55-year history, HPS is fortunate to serve nearly 800 students in 4K through 12th grade today. We are glad you found us, and we look forward to partnering with you to bring up our next generation of Christian leaders.
I think you’ll soon discover Hyde Park Schools is more than just a school. It’s a community and a family where students are reminded daily of their value and identity, not in what the world measures, but in Christ. We believe your children are wonderfully and fearfully made (Ps. 139:14), and we strive to equip them with the tools, encouragement and education to develop the character, confidence and knowledge needed to tackle all of life’s ups and downs - in college and beyond. At HPS, you’ll find a first-class college preparatory education that also develops a keen Biblical worldview spanning academics, the arts, and athletics. We achieve this by grounding our philosophy of education in God’s Word and hiring faculty and staff who love God, love students, and love the pursuit of excellence in their craft.
As you discover more about HPS, I hope you will take time to meet our students, speak with faculty and staff and see firsthand what makes our community one of a kind. I look forward to welcoming you to campus!
In Christ,
Dr. Christopher Coy
Head of School
A Journey of Faith and Excellence
Welcome to Hyde Park Schools! We are excited to share with you what makes our school and community so special. We want you to get to know us and imagine your family thriving here.
We began as a Child Development Center (CDC) in 1968. In the fall of 1968, Kindergarten began for 5-year-olds, and the school began to add one grade per year until it reached sixth grade. As we began to grow, we separated from the CDC and formed the Hyde Park Baptist School system. Upon establishing, HPS Elementary School’s mission was to provide the opportunity for an excellent Christian education to the Austin community. HPS Lower School was fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency in the 1970s.
The school's accredited Junior/Senior High School began in the fall of 1980. The purpose of the new secondary school was to prepare young people for college with a firm foundation built on Christ. In 2003, the HPS Athletics complex opened at the Hyde Park Quarries location in Northwest Austin. In Fall 2009, the new, state-of-the-art Hyde Park Upper School campus opened at the Quarries.
In keeping with its heritage of academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment, over 100% of all Hyde Park Schools graduates go on to higher education.
