Priority Decision
October 1 – January 4
Application Fee: $180
Admissions Decision: March 7
Applying during the priority window gives your child the strongest opportunity for placement and helps you plan ahead with confidence.
Additional Fees: Upon enrollment, all new students pay a $500 enrollment deposit (applied to tuition) and a one-time new student fee of $1,000 for 4K, $2,000 for K–8, and $2,500 for 9–12
Regular Decision
January 5 – April 30
Application Fee: $200
Rolling Decisions begin March 27
We’re welcoming families into the remaining available spots. While some grades may have wait pools, we’ll guide you through every step so your child can start their Hyde Park journey as soon as possible.

Mid-Year Transfer
During the school year

Please allow 2 weeks after submitting your application. Start dates will vary depending on the division.
Whether you’ve just moved to Austin or are seeking a new school home mid-year, we’ll work closely with you to make the transition smooth for your child.

Age Requirements
To join our Lower Elementary program, children must meet the age guidelines:
- 4K / 4K Flex: 4 years old by September 1
- Kindergarten: 5 years old by September 1
4K Flex offers a shorter day (8 a.m.–1 p.m.), while our full-day program ends at 3 p.m.

Application Materials
We’ll need a few items to complete your child’s file:
- Teacher feedback form (sent digitally)
- Kindergarten report card for 1st-grade applicants
- Current grades (at least two grading periods) for Kindergarten & 1st Grade
- Records Release form from your child’s current school

Admissions Testing
Elementary applicants take the Comprehensive Testing Program, Edition 5, right here at Hyde Park. The test is proctored by our friendly Admissions staff so your child feels comfortable and supported.
Final Steps
Once all documentation is received, the Admissions Office will email you a link to set up your parent interview.

Testing & Shadowing
Applicants take the Independent School Entrance Exam here on campus. They’ll also spend a half-day shadowing a current student, which is a great chance to meet future classmates, experience our teachers, and see if Hyde Park feels like home.
Final Steps
After we’ve received all documentation, completed testing, and your child’s shadow day, the Admissions Office will send you a link to schedule your parent interview. This is our chance to talk through your goals and answer your questions before making the final decision together.

Testing & Questionnaire
Upper School applicants take the Independent School Entrance Exam on campus, complete a short student questionnaire about their interests and goals, and meet with a member of our Admissions Committee. This conversation is a chance for your teen to share their voice and ask their own questions.

After we receive everything, we’ll email you a link to schedule your parent interview. This is where we talk about your family’s goals, answer questions, and discuss how Hyde Park can partner with you for the high school years.
